Forget the all-important dress. Donning the perfect diamonds for a trip down the red carpet is just as crucial for a celebrity.
One place they turn: jeweler Neil Lane, who has quietly created a reputation as the go-to guy for accessorizing Hollywood starlets.
"When I got here 20 years ago, it was a really sleepy town," says Lane from his Los Angeles office. "The hot celebrities in town weren't 20 years old--they were an older generation of movie stars like Goldie Hawn and Barbara Streisand. Red carpets weren't that popular and big jewelers were putting these enormous and age-inappropriate pieces on anyone under 25. The jewels were wearing the stars."
