For many, floral patterns conjure ideas of a grandmothers apron, chintz curtains or--gasp!--sofa coverings.
But thanks to a number of chic, cutting-edge patterns, florals are blooming on everything from ties, pocket squares, shoes, scarves and dress shirts--making it easy to add a little flower power to your workwear.
"Wearing a floral pattern is a great way to show you have a personality, especially if you work in an office where there seems to be none," says Simon Doonan, creative director of Barneys New York. "But they aren't an easy thing to wear. One mismatched print, and your entire look can go awry."
