Ted Gibson’s messy hair is my kinda look!

Ted Gibson doing hair Lela Rose

When I’m not on air I do my best to not pay much attention to my tresses (think: Courtney Love meets Carine Roitfeld). So you can imagine how psyched I was when the AWESOME Ted Gibson pointed out his key look was the messy pony tail. He called it “wet and wild” (I would have called it “messy bed head”) used Build It Blow Drying Agent and set it with Beautiful Hold Hairspray. All of his products are available at his salon or at Target. God that makes me SO happy.

Ha. I hate to admit it, but it takes a while to look half way normal for a party. My biggest issue is my insane hair which never really looks right unless it’s totally blown out.  Armed with this knowledge, the lovely peeps at the W Buckhead (“whatever, whenever” is their motto) booked me an appt at the cheapest place they could find. $20 at a place that was sort of like a Supercuts. Hello- it’s a recession, people. Paying $80 for a blow out is just not acceptable any more!

From Zurich to London.

The next morning after the fashion show, I got on a flight to London to visit my family. I was only going to be there for 36 hours, but the last time I was in London was YEARS ago and I really wanted to see my cousins.

This is my little cousin Ani and her sister’s boyfriend Paul. After I met Kenya for lunch, I got a blow out at Top Shop (yes, I said Top Shop in Oxford Circus! 20 quid and it was awesome. Video TK), met Paul back at his office and then we all rolled out for drinks.

Ani and I after glass of wine #2 waiting for her sister Kavi and our other cousins Sangeeth and Naren to arrive. I know, I know… I’m lookin’ a little rough at this point. No makeup, 4 hours of sleep for the past four days and bad face wash does not = hot pictures.

Yay Kavi!!!

Reunited and it feels so good!! I am trying to keep it REAL here, but oh. my. god. was I EXHAUSTED. Next stop, Koi for dinner then BED.

The cost of being high def HOT.

OK, so we all know celebs spend a TON on looking good, but the amount they spend during Oscars increases by 1000% especially when they know the world is watching them on high definition TV.  Last year I wrote a piece about this phenomenon for Forbes.com.  Stylists like Jennifer Rade (Angelina Jolie’s stylist) can make up to $7,000 a day. Zoom whitening can cost you $1,000 for one sitting and a laser facial (to make sure you GLOW) can cost up to $600. And that’s just the basics!! For a custom exercise regimen at a place like Peak Performance in NYC  it can run you up to $1,000 a week for private training sessions and a customized diet by celebrity nutritionist Oz Garcia will run you close to $12,000.  Ah the joys getting gorgeous…

A product that works.

Olay regenerist

Years ago my dermatologist told me to stop spending so much money on luxury face washes and lotions because they just don’t work!  Instead, she told me to walk directly over to Duane Reade and get a tube of Oil of Olay Regenerist. Within a week of using this stuff, my skin totally cleared up. In fact, I rarely break out now. For those with ultra sensitive skin, this formula may be a little harsh at first- but stick with it. If your skin feels too dry, use an oil free moisturizer. I swear you will love the results.
